The Little Pond
When the sun shines and before the birds nest, we are clearing out the little valley NE of the house and barn. Through the decades the valley has become a tangle of dead elm and ash, thorny bushes, nettles and cockleburs held together by a net of wild grape vines.
Mark cuts and carries. The big pieces warm the house during these last chilly days of the season. I drag branches into brush piles.
We want to see the "lay of the land" so we will burn these piles when the weather cooperates! Neither damp nor dry help us get this job accomplished.
These pictures looking down from the barn deck give a glimpse of the view we are trying to achieve.
Working with nature, our goal is to sculpt a habitat in which humans and wildlife can thrive and enjoy.
